Aptos’ token economics turning positive

Saw something about Aptos’ token economics turning positive. I didn’t even know people measured this . Does that basically mean the network is now generating more in fees than it’s paying out in rewards?

I was wondering the same thing. Does “positive” here mean APT holders are actually getting paid, or is it more about the network’s fees being higher than its operating costs?

Also, is this a recent change in how Aptos works? Or has it been happening for a while and people are only talking about it now?

I think both questions are connected. The “positive” part doesn’t mean APT holders are suddenly receiving a payout. It’s more about the network generating more value after accounting for what it pays to keep the network running.

And Jack, I wouldn’t take that alone as “Aptos is doing great now.” The part I’d pay attention to is what caused the change. If more people are actually using Aptos and paying fees, that’s a much better sign than the number simply looking good for one period.

That’s also why I think this is worth watching rather than celebrating too early. We need to see what’s driving the activity and whether it sticks around.

I’m also curious whether this is something that actually matters for someone holding APT. I understand why it sounds good for the network, but does it change anything for holders directly?

I read another post about this earlier and I think I finally got the basic idea. It doesn’t mean APT holders are simply getting paid more. It’s more that the network is starting to bring in more value compared with what it costs to keep running. What I’m still curious about is what’s actually driving that change.
