Is Aptos becoming more of a DeFi chain, or is it still searching for its main use case?
I've been following Aptos for a while, and one thing I've noticed recently is that conversations have shifted away from just speed and TPS. More people are discussing liquidity, stablecoins, trading activity, and applications being built on the network. Personally, I think this is the stage where a blockchain either starts becoming useful or fades into the background. The technology was always interesting, but adoption is what separates successful networks from forgotten ones. Curious what everyone thinks: what sector gives Aptos the best chance of growing—DeFi, gaming, payments, or something else?
I've been using a few Aptos DeFi apps over the past several months, and the experience feels noticeably better than it did a year ago. There's more liquidity, swaps don't feel empty anymore, and I'm seeing the same wallets coming back instead of people just farming incentives and disappearing. For me, that's a healthier sign than TPS numbers. If that trend continues, developers have a much stronger reason to keep building there.
What catches my attention isn't even DeFi itself—it's how stablecoins are slowly becoming part of the conversation. On most successful chains, stablecoin activity usually comes before broader adoption because people actually start moving value instead of just speculating. I've noticed more discussions around payments and settlement recently, which feels like a step in that direction. Has anyone here actually used Aptos for payments or is it still mostly DeFi?
I'm still pretty new to Aptos. When people talk about stablecoin growth, what should I actually be looking at? Is it the number of users, transaction volume, or something else?
