I think most investors have done this at least once.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but hype can be hard to ignore.

I've been on both sides of it.
One time I bought a coin because everyone was talking about it and made a decent profit. Another time I did exactly the same thing and ended up holding losses for months. Those experiences taught me that hype can influence short-term price action, but it's not something I want to rely on when making investment decisions.
